The Hindu temple most visitors to Java search for is not run by a temple trust at all. Prambanan is a UNESCO World Heritage monument operated as a ticketed park by a state-owned company, so the questions that matter are the ones you would ask of a museum: when the counter shuts, what the ticket costs, and which day part of the site is closed. It is also a place where Hindu ceremonies are held again, which is why it belongs in this register.

Hindu communities in Java and Bali hold ceremonies at Prambanan, including Galungan, Tawur Kesanga and Nyepi, and in 2026 a month-long Shiva festival ended with Maha Shivaratri on 15 February.
